My next piece is in honour of our dear team the Winnipeg Jets. They may not have brought home the cup, but they sure made a whole city, well a whole province, heck, a whole country, proud!
I am by no means a huge hockey fan. In fact, I could hardly sit through a full game up until a month ago, but it has been a really cool experience watching the playoffs. In the end I only missed one game! (I enjoyed it so much in fact I might even start watching some of the regular season next year! :D)
It was really nice to gather with friends and family throughout the week to watch the games. It was something different and fun to look forward to. It was also extra motivation for me to hurry up and finish my work, so I could watch the games without distraction!
I have also loved the energy the playoffs brought!! Winnipeg and even our small town of Minnedosa, was pumping during game nights. While it brought a little extra stress during the tense moments, it definitely brought a whole lot of joy, cheering and excitement during the happy moments.
It was nice to see so many people come together for a positive, fun activity.
Since playoffs were such a big part of my life, and many lives in Manitoba over the last little while, I knew I had to make something to represent the occasion!
Looking at this piece you would never guess it is a hockey piece – and that was my intention. I wanted it to represent the Jets, while still fitting with my nature inspired work. I felt the classic airplane wing in the sunset was the perfect blend. The wing represents the “Jets”, while the sunset represents the end to a magnificent season.
If you look closely, you may spot a subtle “2018” on the wing, to mark the year!
I hope you were all able to enjoy a little of the playoff experience in some way! I know I did.
Hugs,
Emily
